ABOUT THE GAME

Monster University is a fantasy-themed adult game.

Its core gameplay is a choose-your-own-adventure experience centered on the college life of a fully customizable young adult protagonist. Players influence the character’s future by deciding how they balance academics, friendships, and romantic relationships.

The game currently features over forty playable monster races, with more planned for future updates. Built using RPG Maker MZ, it blends elements of visual novels and text-based storytelling. Additional artwork and potential voice acting may be added later, depending on the budget.

The concept revolves around experiencing five years at a magical university. During this time, players can attend classes, form friendships, pursue romantic relationships, and spend free time on a variety of side activities.

The goal was to create an open-ended, romance-focused visual novel. To achieve this, the campus is populated with many randomized, romanceable NPCs. At the same time, the game includes an evolving storyline shaped by player choices, supported by a cast of named and unique characters—enough to fill entire classrooms, along with their instructors.

This allows players to engage deeply with well-developed characters while also freely interacting with randomized NPCs. At present, there are 100 NPCs to encounter, with plans to introduce an additional 100 each in-game year as new underclassmen, each bringing changing dynamics based on their academic standing.

NPCs are designed to feel alive and distinct. Beyond their monster races, each has preferences and dislikes in subjects, personal kinks, relationship styles, and behavioral tendencies.

They also maintain relationships with one another, meaning their feelings toward each other can grow or fade over time, and they may form relationships independently of the player.

As a result, players can engage in infidelity if they win over other NPCs—or be cheated on themselves if they neglect their partner.

An optional and experimental pregnancy system is also included, featuring male pregnancy. At this stage, it only tracks whether a character is pregnant or not, with gestation and birth mechanics still under development.

The game remains in an early, experimental phase. The user interface is rough, bugs are common, and save files may not carry over between versions.

As this is the developer’s first game made for a wider audience, players should expect numerous issues, potentially including game-breaking bugs. Despite this, the developer hopes players will still give the project a chance.
