ABOUT THE GAME
Hello there! It seems you’ve stumbled upon my game today.
You might be wondering…
…what exactly is this game about?
Well, in a time when more and more rushed, soulless content fills the gaming and art world—especially with waves of AI-generated material—I’m genuinely proud to present something very different:
A chaotic, messy, vibey, and very passionate project, created entirely by one dedicated human creator.
Beaver Creek is both an adult game and a tribute to many things at once — a love letter to point-and-click adventures, old browser games, strange and obscure titles, music, nature, fantasy, and creative self-expression.
While the game does contain mature and explicit themes, don’t expect constant scenes right from the start. The experience is meant to be atmospheric and slow-paced, with plenty happening beyond just the spicy moments.
Looking for a quick plot summary?
It’s a story as old as time:
Two trans girls take a late-night drive into the woods in search of a mysterious local cryptid rumored to be connected to unusual encounters. One of them is energetic and impulsive, while the other acts as her loyal—but very tired—driver and protector.
Naturally, things soon begin to get strange… and a series of chaotic adventures follows.
HOW TO PLAY
this game takes lot of inspiration from classic point’n’click-adventures, but the controls still differ a bit:
- To walk, simply move the cursor away from the character rather than clicking.
- You can stop moving and take a look around by holding the right mouse key.
- Use the backpack button at the bottom of the screen or the scroll wheel to open and close the inventory.
- To interact with and combine interaction verbs and items/objects, left-click on them.
- To remove your selected interaction, middle-click.
- Hover your cursor over the Amalia thinking symbol at the bottom of the screen if you’re ever unclear about what to do:3
- To go back to the main menu at any time during the game, hold down the escape key.
SO NO SAVING/LOADING?
Indeed, a functional save/load system is one of the numerous things that are still somewhat lacking from this iteration.
There is a scene selection screen in the main menu where you can jump to the start of any scene because the game is too long to finish in one sitting.
Be cautious not to spoil yourself—all scenes are available immediately!
SO NO MONEY?
You are unable to directly support me financially on this page because of itch.io’s ongoing censorship.
I have the game jam version of this game (as well as many other games! :3) on my page where you can donate if you like what I do. Alternatively, you can check out my Patreon page (as soon as my page is approved and I can link it here :C), where I will be offering paid memberships with exciting, exclusive perks very soon.
PLANS FOR THE FUTURE?
As you can see, this page is labeled “Prologue.”
And without revealing too much—if you’ve already played it, you probably noticed that the story doesn’t end here 😛
The full game I have in mind is quite ambitious and will take a lot of time to develop. Still, it’s a project I’d really love to complete someday.
The version of the game I’m planning will also differ in several ways from what you can play right now:
- The prologue contains much more dialogue compared to playtime than the full game will.
- The prologue is quite linear, while the complete game will feature a more semi-open environment that players can explore more freely.
- I’m also experimenting with possibly moving the game into a 3D or 2.5D style, though I plan to keep the same rough, illustrated aesthetic.
- The dialogue system is currently very linear, but in the final version I’d like to add branching conversations and more response options, along with a more dynamic system for certain scenes.
If that sounds interesting to you, feel free to follow me here or on Patreon to stay updated on the game’s development.
And one more thing: I still consider this version something like v0.9 of the prologue. I plan to add a few smaller updates over time. For example, much of the sound design I have planned hasn’t been added yet—but for now, I simply wanted to release something people could try.
A FEW FINAL NOTES
You simply can’t get enough of my rants, don’t you? Dang, you’re still here! Alright, let me see what else I can tell you about uuuhh.
Oh, and storing your inventory state between scenes is another else I haven’t yet done. This works well for the most of the prologue, but there is one optional item that you can pick up; however, if you don’t pick it up in the first scene, you will still have it later.
I should also point out that this game is based on a game I started for the NSFW MiniJam #16, which is why I’m submitting this prologue to the Finish Your NSFW Project Jam, which is being held by the same folks!
