ABOUT THE GAME

This is Konrad Lamorok…

“What are you doing?”

Konrad startled slightly and tore his eyes away from the screen. He glanced up, caught off guard, at the blonde standing behind him, openly peeking over his shoulder.

“Writing a letter to the Council,” he answered curtly, turning back to his keyboard, trying not to lose his focus.

“Why?” Jane asked, tilting her head in curiosity.

Konrad exhaled in mild annoyance but responded anyway.

“Do you remember the plan?”

“The plan? What plan?” she replied, frowning in confusion.

“I don’t have time to explain right now,” he muttered through clenched teeth. “Ask Travis.”

“Ask me what?” a calm voice interrupted from behind them.

Travis stepped closer, as composed as ever, his expression nearly impossible to read.

“Why doesn’t Jane know about the plan?” Konrad asked, turning toward him with barely restrained irritation.

“Forgot to mention it,” Travis said with a casual shrug, showing no sign of remorse.

“Fantastic…” Konrad sighed, closing his eyes briefly in frustration.

“So what’s happening here?” Jess jumped in, appearing just as suddenly. “Scheming without me again?”

“Looks like I’m not the only one left in the dark,” Jane replied dryly.

Soon, Jess, Jane, and Travis were wrapped up in their own conversation. Their voices blended together—laughter, questions, wild guesses—forming a noisy hum right beside Konrad.

His jaw tightened. His fingers hovered over the keyboard, frozen. Another second and he’d lose it.

“Enough. Out. All of you,” he snapped sharply, turning toward them.

The three exchanged quick glances before quietly scattering without protest.

Silence finally settled over the room.

Konrad leaned back in his chair, dragging a hand across his face, eyes closing for a brief moment.

“Tea?” Jack asked softly, having stayed out of the commotion the entire time.

Konrad gave a tired nod.

“Yes… thank you.”
