CAUTION
SYNCHROLAP:P is classified 18+ and contains themes of violence, cannibalism, murder, body horror, suggestive content, and related subjects in addition to representations of blood and nudity. Despite the significant age difference between the two main characters—Yanagi is 45 and Remko is 32–34—they both meet as legal adults, are willing, and are in good mental health. Every action is completely mutually consenting.
STORY
Outside the morgue, it’s a dreary noon, and many people would find solace in the dreary weather. Stuck indoors, watching a light drizzle dance on the street, listening to the wind’s faint whistle. However, for one pathologist, the outside world that he had ignored for his studies suddenly pushed its way through his door. The outsider, an automaton guy carrying a metal corpse, was requesting his spiritual knowledge.
ABOUT THE GAME
A sci-fantasy T4T MLM kinetic visual novel prototype with a Toxic Love theme, SYNCHROLAP:P was created for the 2026 SWAK game jam. I had been thinking about SCL since the end of last year, so I figured it would be easy to gain a sense of the project by creating a little proof of concept game with a few supporting characters. I would have loved to write more about it, but consider it more of a sample of something bigger.
The game consists of:
- Two full body sprites, each with seven expressions, and an additional full body mystery sprite
- A pair of tiny profile sprites
- Each of the five to six ensembles and Sprite variants
- Eight different backgrounds and additional modifications for particular situations and times of day
- Five easy CGs
- Five brief musical pieces
- Ten to eleven thousand words and an hour of recreation
I’ve removed the web version for the time being because I’m not sure how to fix the odd audio balancing that seems to be there. To get the most out of the game, please download it.
OBSERVATIONS
I want to express my gratitude to Infinite Mosaic for working with me in parallel for the majority of the game jam and to all of my friends for beta reading and providing comments. I’m glad we put in a lot of effort for each other and turned in our work in spite of our reservations, even though I know we both considered not submitting our games several times.
I apologize; I’m still learning how to use Ren’py correctly and how to maximize my time when developing assets because this is my first time participating in a public, long-term game jam of this kind. All of this was really self-indulgent and done for fun, but I wish I had had more time to complete the CGs and music tracks and enhance the surroundings.
