Lily hangs back—quiet, studious, wrapped in an oversized sweater that hides more than it reveals, until she stretches and you notice there’s more beneath the surface.
That night, alone in your room, you dig through an old dresser. Your fingers catch on cold metal: an antique ring of dull gold, etched with twisting symbols that seem to shift when you stare too long. On impulse, you slip it on.
