An anthology of adult texting fiction is called Burner Phone. Every tale is recounted fully over the phone, in messages you shouldn’t be sending and at times you shouldn’t be awake. Not a sim. Not a trace. Only her name appears on the screen, and you may choose what to type in response.
She messages, you respond, and it goes where you take it, just like in a real conversation. She gives you pictures that she would never share with anybody else, and they end up in a gallery that you may keep.
CHARACTERS
- The ex is Nadia – Back in your phone at midnight, the one that ended a year ago. She’s now dating someone. As soon as he falls asleep, she texts you. You both don’t stop.
- The stepsister is Sage – One hallway, one year. To you, it’s disgusting, but sweet to the parents. She doesn’t pretend anymore tonight. Wanting you becomes a game that neither of you can lose because of the wall that separates you.
