ABOUT THE GAME
Evan, a young man from Seattle who recently turned eighteen, obtains a summer job working with his pals to test a brand-new, top-secret virtual reality project for HypeReal. Evan, who is now Eva, does her best to get through the ordeal when things don’t go exactly as planned.
Without grind or game overs, this visual novel blends player choice, metrics, and RNG. You are free to play however you like. Naturally, within certain bounds. Evan/Eva is under your authority, but she is kind, gentle, and trustworthy. She would never consider betraying someone, and the game would never give you that option. You cannot put yourself in a scenario where you cannot win, and there is no permadeath. Since I dislike savescumming, I have tried to make a game in which it is not required. I urge you to simply roll through the results like Eva does, trusting both the game and me.
I sincerely hope you will pardon my attempts at programming and painting. I know I can write English phrases with proper grammar and have a basic understanding of programming, but this is my first game, and I’m not that creative. I drew all of the characters. Backgrounds are heavily edited photos from a variety of pre-existing media that I have recycled and changed to create a unified, consistent look with little work on my part. I don’t have the time or resources to draw every background by hand. I made an effort to reduce the amount of AI in a few of the backgrounds.
I’m not sure how I feel about the fact that I feel like I’ve produced a work of outsider art. From the start, it has been challenging but enjoyable. Originally, I intended to do this game in Twine with a lot of text and little graphics, but well, I hope I didn’t make too many mistakes.
Please look after Eva. She deserves much better than what I was able to provide for her.
